Pampore, Feb 12: MLA Pampore Retired Justice Hasnain Masoodi, while participating in the discussion on Demands for Grants relating to Education, Health and Medical Education, and Social Welfare in the Legislative Assembly, strongly projected several important developmental demands for the Pampore constituency.

Highlighting the pressing healthcare requirements of the region, MLA Pampore Masoodi demanded the upgradation of Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Pampore, Primary Health Centre (PHC) Kakapora, PHC Khrew, and NTPHCs at Lethpora, Naman, and Ratnipora to strengthen medical infrastructure and improve healthcare delivery. He further called for the establishment of new health units in uncovered and underserved areas including Khadermoh, Hajibal, and Trich, noting that residents face considerable hardship due to the lack of nearby medical facilities.

On the education front, Masoodi demanded the establishment of Degree Colleges at Kakapora and Khrew to expand access to higher education for local youth. He also sought the upgradation of High School Parigam to Higher Secondary level, and the upgradation of Middle Schools at Marval and Shar Shali to High Schools, emphasizing the need to strengthen the educational framework of the constituency.

Welcoming the relief measures announced by the government — including 200 units of free electricity, Rs 75,000 marriage assistance, free bus service for women and specially-abled persons, and free education for AAY category beneficiaries — Masoodi urged that procedures be simplified to ensure that the benefits reach the intended target groups without delay or procedural hurdles.

He also demanded the establishment of private sector medical colleges in Jammu & Kashmir, stating that limited MBBS seats compel many aspirants to seek admissions in countries such as Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, and others, placing financial and emotional strain on families.
