Indian Army Organises Youth Engagement, Community Welfare Programmes Across Jammu

Jammu, Feb 10: The Indian Army on Tuesday carried out a series of youth-centric and community welfare initiatives across Ramban, Poonch and Rajouri districts, reinforcing its commitment to nation-building through education, sports and preventive healthcare.

In Sailkund village of Ramban, the Indian Army organised a motivational lecture and career counselling session for students of the Sangaldan area. Held in the remote village, the session focused on career management, informed decision-making and future planning, helping students explore suitable career paths.

Defence spokesperson said the initiative was warmly received by the students, who expressed gratitude for the Army’s continued engagement in youth development. The programme aligned with the vision of “Siksha Se Samridhi”, underlining the importance of education in shaping a secure and prosperous future.

Meanwhile, in Surankote, Poonch, the Indian Army successfully conducted the Volleyball Tournament finals at ALG Ground as part of the Pir Panjal Winter Festival 2026. In the boys’ final, Manjeet Club defeated Habib Club A, while the girls’ final saw Wandman Hasan emerge victorious against Poonch Riders.

Spokesperson said the matches showcased high levels of skill, teamwork and sportsmanship. The event aimed at promoting sports culture, physical fitness and positive youth engagement, while further strengthening civil-military relations in the Pir Panjal region.

In Rajouri, the Indian Army’s 150 General Hospital, under the aegis of the Ace of Spades Division, conducted a Women’s Health Awareness and Medical Camp at the Government Girls Model Higher Secondary School.

 A multidisciplinary team of doctors, nursing officers and paramedical staff provided general health check-ups, nutritional assessments and counselling. Special emphasis was laid on menstrual hygiene, anaemia prevention, balanced nutrition, personal hygiene and timely medical consultation for women-specific health issues.

Students also actively participated by delivering short talks highlighting the role of education in empowering girls and improving health outcomes.

These coordinated initiatives reflect the Indian Army’s sustained efforts towards holistic development, community welfare and youth empowerment, fostering trust, goodwill and positive growth across the region. (PIB)
