New Delhi, Jan 6: Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) National Convenor Nasir Khuehami on Monday met India’s noted political strategist Prashant Kishor in New Delhi, holding wide-ranging discussions on issues concerning Kashmiri students, youth leadership and the role of young voices in public life and governance.
According to JKSA, the meeting focused on the need to democratise youth and political leadership in Kashmir, with emphasis on creating inclusive, merit-based pathways for young people aspiring to enter politics, governance and policy-making. The discussions also touched upon ethical leadership, professionalisation of politics, evidence-based decision-making, grassroots mobilisation and the integration of Kashmiri youth into national policy and governance platforms.
Khuehami said the interaction underlined the importance of exposing Kashmiri youth to national-level democratic processes and modern political practices, enabling them to participate meaningfully in shaping the region’s future.
As a key outcome of the meeting, Prashant Kishor is set to visit the Kashmir Valley from February 2 to 5, 2026, during which he will participate in a Youth Interaction Programme organised by JKSA at Tagore Hall, Srinagar, on February 2. Kishor will attend the programme as the Chief Guest and engage in a one-on-one interaction with students and youth leaders.
During his visit, Kishor is also expected to meet young professionals, student representatives and emerging youth leaders from across the Valley, providing them an opportunity to engage directly with one of the country’s leading political strategists.
The proposed interaction aims to bridge gaps in exposure and understanding among Kashmiri youth in areas such as policy formulation, political consultancy, leadership development, governance processes and democratic participation. Kishor is expected to share insights on career pathways in public policy, political communication, governance reforms, election management, campaign war-room operations and outcome-oriented governance.
JKSA said the programme is expected to offer valuable national-level exposure to Kashmiri students and youth leaders, strengthen their confidence and encourage informed, constructive and democratic engagement in public life.
The association described the upcoming visit as a significant step towards creating dialogue-driven platforms for Kashmir’s youth, aimed at nurturing leadership grounded in ethics, inclusivity and democratic values.
