Baramulla Police Seal Off Tangmarg Forest Treks
Police order permits for locals, outright ban for outsiders to prevent security breaches and ensure public safety

Baramulla, Dec 28: The Baramulla Police have issued a stringent advisory, imposing immediate restrictions on trekking in the upper forest reaches of the Tangmarg belt.
A police spokesperson told Kashmir Convener that this measure comes in the wake of an unauthorised trekking incident reported in the Danwas forest area on December 21.
Citing the imperative to ensure public safety and preempt potential security breaches, the police mandate strict compliance with the following protocols.
He said Individuals residing within the district are required to obtain prior permission from the designated local authorities. They must also formally notify the nearest police station or civil administration office before venturing into the upper forest areas.
The spokesperson said entry and trekking in these specified upper forest zones are now strictly prohibited for all visitors from outside the district without exception.
He said Baramulla police appealed for public cooperation, stating that adherence to these guidelines is paramount for preserving a secure environment and preventing untoward incidents.
The public is urged to comply fully with this advisory for their own safety and the broader security of the district he added.
