SOPORE, DEC 19: Sopore legislator Irshad Rasool Kar has launched a sharp critique against the central administration, calling the current political climate in Jammu and Kashmir “a question mark on the functionality of today’s rulers.”
The National Conference (NC) leader asserted that the path forward requires a return to Jammu and Kashmir’s constitutional foundation. “The solution lies in honouring the constitution,” stated MLA Kar. “Its sanctity must be restored, its distortions removed, and the state’s original status and Article 370 reinstated. This is essential for the welfare of Jammu and Kashmir and for bringing more youth into the political mainstream.”
He made these remarks during an interaction with Kashmir Convener following a youth convention held by the National Conference in Sopore.
Addressing a gathering of around 500 young people, MLA Kar emphasised the convention’s significance. “After a gap of over a year, we have convened this youth wing meeting. There was a persistent demand for such a platform, which has now been met,” he said.
He described the proceedings as “highly productive,” noting that a range of concerns were raised and impassioned speeches were delivered. “I am hopeful this renewed energy will propel the National Conference’s mission to guide the Sopore Constituency toward development and prosperity,” he added.
MLA Kar stressed the need for regular engagement with the younger generation to improve public service. “Such forums are imperative for connecting with the youth and working more effectively for Sopore’s advancement,” he said.
He expressed optimism about growing civic engagement, observing a “commendable passion among the youth to work for society.” “This spirit is strengthening daily, with more individuals joining. It is an encouraging sign,” the MLA stated. “I will always stand with them, working collectively for the betterment of our constituency.”
MLA Kar also pledged to leave no stone unturned in advocating for the development and welfare of the Sopore constituency. “I remember the valuable time given by each and every worker. I remember the efforts of every single worker; I have forgotten nothing. Every issue will be addressed patiently for the progressive prosperity of Sopore. I will not hold back on any pledge,” he said.
He stated, “I will not fall short in standing by my promises. I will always be at the forefront to fulfill every commitment to the people of my Sopore constituency.”
