Acting on specific input,Shopian Police conducted a surprise check of the medical shop and observed discrepancies in the records and accordingly Drug control Authorities of the district were informed.Upon verification of purchase and distribution records at the pharmacy, the Team of Drug Controller Shopian confirmed the possession of such a large quantity without proper authorization as a breach of drug control norms.

The medical shop was immediately sealed for violating the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and the State Drug Controller’s regulations concerning prescription drug management.It is noteworthy that the joint operation that led to the seizure of 4,960 pregabalin tablets.

The recovered quantity far exceeded the legally permitted amount, raising concerns over potential illegitimate use and illegal diversion of prescription medication.

Pregabalin is a controlled substance due to its potential for abuse and diversion, especially when dispensed outside the regulatory framework.
