BISMA FC Wins Inaugural General Bipin Rawat Memorial Football Premier League in Bandipora

League honours India’s first CDS; “promotes unity, sportsmanship among Kashmiri youth”

Bandipora, Nov 7: The Chinar Corp’s Counter Insurgency Force (Kilo) successfully organised the first edition of the General Bipin Rawat Memorial Football Premier League – 2025 in Bandipora, honouring General Bipin Rawat, India’s first Chief of Defence Staff.

         An official spokesperson said the tournament aimed to promote sportsmanship, discipline, and unity among Kashmiri youth through the spirit of football.

Four top teams representing Kupwara, Baramulla, Sharifabad, and Awantipora competed in the league, displaying outstanding skill and teamwork.

         The grand finale, held at the Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium, Bandipora, witnessed an intense match between BISMA FC (HQ 19 INF DIV) and DAR FC Kupwara (HQ 28 INF DIV). In a thrilling contest, BISMA FC emerged victorious.

         Over 500 spectators gathered to watch the final, turning the stadium into a scene of excitement, energy, and unity.

Spokesperson said the event reflected the growing enthusiasm for football in the region and highlighted Bandipora’s reputation as a hub of sporting talent in Kashmir.

         Throughout the tournament, players displayed zeal, teamwork, and camaraderie, reflecting the very values that General Bipin Rawat embodied. Spokesperson remember General Rawat as a symbol of leadership, courage, and national pride

         He said the memorial league also served as a bridge of goodwill and trust between the Indian Army and the local community, reinforcing their shared commitment to peace, development, and youth empowerment through sports.
