Srinagar, Oct 25: In his first reaction to the Rajya Sabha results, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stated, “We made a complete effort, but at the final stage, we were pained by the actions from certain quarters. The names of those who caused us pain are now almost known to everyone. I don’t consider it necessary to elaborate on that matter here, but it is regrettable.”
Speaking to the media, as per Kashmir Convener, Omar said he is thankful to everyone, especially the Congress, for voting in favor of the NC candidates.
He said he is satisfied that, at least, not a single vote from the NC was wasted.
Hitting back at the MLA from Handwara and President of the JKPC, Sajad Lone, Omar said he [Lone] opted to abstain because he didn’t want to harm the BJP. “He should have openly supported the BJP instead of opting to abstain,” Omar added.
While Sajad Gani Lone, yet again accused the National Conference of being “hand in glove” with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the recent Rajya Sabha elections.
During press conference Sajad said , “Those two or three extra votes were of no use to that fourth candidate,” Lone said. “Even if there had been no cross-voting, that candidate would still have lost. All the cross-voting was done by the National Conference. They did it themselves.”
He claimed seven NC members “directly gifted their votes to the BJP.” “It was a fixed match,” Lone said. “This is the same party that accused others of collaborating with the BJP. And today, they are sitting in the BJP’s lap.”
