Srinagar, Oct 24 : The declaration of the Rajya Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir has been clouded by serious allegations from Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who has questioned the integrity of the electoral process and suggested the involvement of a “secret team” employing pressure and inducements to sway the outcome.
Following the declaration of the Rajya Sabha results, which saw the National Conference secure three seats and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) win one, Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah has raised questions about the integrity of the vote.
In a post on the social media platform X, Abdullah stated that all of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference’s votes remained intact across the four elections. He emphasized that this was verified by the party’s election agent, who witnessed each polling slip.
“The question arises: where did the four extra votes for the BJP come from?” Abdullah asked, asserting that there was no cross-voting from any of his party’s MLAs.
He further probed, “Who were the MLAs who deliberately invalidated their votes by marking a wrong preference number? Do they have the guts to put their hands up and own up to helping the BJP after promising us their votes?”
Abdullah further said by questioning the motives behind the alleged actions, asking, “What pressure or inducement helped them make this choice? Let’s see if any of the BJP’s secret team own up to selling their souls!”
