HSS Baduaab Ground Echoes with Cheers as Annual Sports Meet Kicks Off
Baduaab, Sept 17: The sprawling ground of Higher Secondary School (HSS) Baduaab came alive with youthful energy and excitement today as the Annual Sports Meet was inaugurated by the school Principal, Mr. Nayeem Ahmad Paray. The inter-school tournament, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Bandipora, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and the local community.
The ceremony began with a welcome address from the Principal, who highlighted the role of sports in building discipline, teamwork and a healthy lifestyle. Marking the official start of the meet, Mr. Paray inaugurated the volleyball tournament with the traditional handshake between team captains, sparking loud applause from the gathered audience.
The day featured a variety of competitions that kept the spectators on edge. The tug-of-war contest opened the schedule with teams displaying grit and coordination, drawing thunderous cheers. In the 100-metre sprint, Shahid Reyaz clinched first place, followed by Asif Mushtaq and Waseem Ahmad in second and third positions.
Another highlight was the Skipping Rope competition, where Rafiqa of Class 7th stole the show with her flawless routine and was declared the winner.
On the volleyball courts, matches drew special attention. At the school level, HSS Baduaab defeated Gugran, while in the community league, Lower Baduaab outplayed Upper Baduaab. The much-anticipated grand final pitted the school champions against the community winners, with HSS Baduaab emerging triumphant after an electrifying contest to lift the championship trophy.
The meet concluded with a vibrant prize distribution ceremony. Principal Nayeem Ahmad Paray praised all participants for their commitment and sportsmanship. “Today was not just about winning but about celebrating effort, teamwork, and the true spirit of sports. You have all made this institution proud,” he said.
Medals and certificates were awarded across events, leaving the school ground resonating with celebration, pride and camaraderie. The spirited gathering not only marked a successful day of competitions but also rekindled passion for sports among students and the wider community.
