GHS Sumlar Celebrates Teacher’s Day
Bandipora, Sept 16: Government High School Sumlar in Bandipora on Wednesday celebrated Teacher’s Day with zeal and gratitude, honouring the invaluable contributions of teachers in shaping society.
An official spokesperson said the programme included seminar, speeches, poetic tributes, and thought-provoking reflections on the rights, duties, and responsibilities of teachers.
Addressing the gathering, Sr. Master Muhammad Yousuf Shah shared his enriching experiences, stressing the timeless value of the teacher-student relationship and the need to revive this bond in contemporary times.
He also contextualized the history of Teacher’s Day, underlining its significance as a tribute to educators and as a reminder of their responsibility in societal development.
Master Bashir Ahmad Shah shed light on the multifaceted role of teachers in society, noting how their influence extends beyond classrooms into the social, moral, religious, and psychological development of students.
He underlined that true teaching goes beyond the syllabus-embracing innovations, character-building, and moral education-through which teachers can positively transform student behaviour and foster inclusive growth.
Adding a reflective touch, Headmaster H.S Sumlar Bandipore Farooq Ahmad Wani enthralled the audience with inspiring real-life anecdotes from his student life and early career. .He remarked, “What I am today is because of the prayers and guidance of my teachers during my student age and early service career.”
He emphasized how such lived experiences can serve as life-changing breakthroughs for students, motivating them to achieve excellence with humility and dedication. “His words, filled with gratitude and insight, left both students and faculty deeply inspired,” spokesperson added.
The programme also featured spirited student speeches and poetic tributes expressing admiration, gratitude, and respect for teachers.
Faculty members joined the dialogue by reiterating that education is not only about knowledge transfer but also about building character and nurturing the future of society.
The celebration concluded with the Best Teacher Award 2025 being conferred upon Sheikh Musavir, Teacher H.S. Sumlar, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to academics and overall school development. His recognition was met with resounding applause from students and colleagues alike.
