Bar Association Bandipora Meets MLA Nizamuddin Bhat, Seeks Immediate Setup of Consumer Forum
Bandipora, Sept 16: The District Bar Association Bandipora has sought the immediate establishment of a District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (DCDRC) in the district, citing hardships faced by residents in the absence of such a forum.
In a meeting with MLA Bandipora Nizamuddin Bhat on Tuesday, the Bar Association submitted a representation addressed to the Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CAPD), pointing out that despite Bandipora being a full-fledged district, people are forced to travel long distances to other districts for grievance redressal, leading to financial and procedural difficulties.
MLA Bhat assured the delegation of his full support and said he has already taken up the matter with the CAPD Minister and the Chief Minister’s Office. He added that a meeting with the Chief Minister has been arranged to fast-track the establishment of the Consumer Forum in Bandipora.
The Bar Association also flagged other infrastructure requirements for the upcoming Court Complex, including a dedicated electricity line and the installation of a borewell to ensure uninterrupted water supply.
Appreciating the proactive role of the Bar Association, Bhat reiterated his commitment to addressing the concerns of the legal fraternity and ensuring better facilities for the people of Bandipora.
