Indian Army’s Poonch Brigade Leads Fierce Response Under Operation SINDOOR: Brigadier Mahajan
Poonch, May 20 — Brigadier Mudit Mahajan, Commander of the Poonch Brigade, on Monday said that the Indian Army delivered a decisive and calibrated response to Pakistan’s unprovoked aggression across the Line of Control under Operation SINDOOR, declaring that the Poonch Brigade was “not just a part but the heart of the operation.”
In a press briefing, Brig Mahajan said the operation followed a Pakistan-sponsored terror strike in Pahalgam, prompting the Indian Army to strike six of nine identified terrorist infrastructure targets located opposite Poonch, Rajouri, and Akhnoor. “These were neutralized with unmatched precision and purpose the very same night,” he said.
The Army’s initial retaliation was confined to terrorist camps, but when the Pakistan Army escalated by targeting civilian areas, Indian forces expanded their operations to strike military assets, the commander added.
Brig Mahajan highlighted the role of Army Air Defence in countering an emerging threat of drone swarms. “Air Defence units demonstrated exceptional skill and coordination, intercepting every aerial threat to safeguard troops and civilian populations,” he said.
While exact figures of enemy casualties are still being verified by intelligence agencies, the officer said that Pakistan Army has suffered heavy losses in both personnel and morale. “They have lost credibility before their own nation,” Brig Mahajan noted.
He asserted that Operation SINDOOR remains suspended but not concluded. “The Indian Army is fully alert and ready. If challenged again, we will respond not with words, but with fire and the resolve of the nation,” he said.
