Bandipora Police Cracks Mobile Theft Case, Recovers Stolen Phones Worth Rs 3 Lakh; Two Arrested

Bandipora, April 20:In a swift breakthrough, Bandipora Police have solved a mobile phone robbery case, recovering stolen phones worth nearly Rs 3 lakh and arresting two accused involved in the theft.

The case came to light after Sheikh Javid Ahmad, a resident of Plan Bandipora Ward No. 2 and owner of “Sheikh Electronics,” filed a complaint at Police Station Bandipora on March 21. In his complaint, he stated that during the intervening night of March 20 and 21, unknown thieves broke into his residential premises and stole 17 to 18 Android mobile phones from his car (bearing registration number JK15-5752) parked in the lawn of his house.

Acting swiftly, Police registered an FIR No. 47/25 under relevant sections of law and constituted a special team led by SHO PS Bandipora Iftikhar Ahmad, under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Bandipora Latief Khan, to investigate the case.

Using a combination of human intelligence and technical inputs, the investigation team identified two suspects who, during questioning, confessed to the crime. The stolen mobile phones were subsequently recovered from their possession.

The arrested individuals have been identified as: Junaid Ahmad Bhat, son of Reyaz Ahmad Bhat, resident of Ward No. 2, Bandipora and Sahil Tariq Malla, son of Tariq Ahmad Malla, resident of Nowpora Bandipora, presently residing at Ajar Bandipora.

Police have confirmed that further investigation is underway to explore any additional leads or accomplices.

The prompt action and recovery have been widely appreciated by the local community.
