Mushtaq Tantray Represents Bandipora at Congress Leadership Meet in New Delhi
New Delhi, April 5: In a significant push for organizational strengthening, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi addressed a landmark meeting of District Congress Committee (DCC) Presidents at the AICC headquarters in New Delhi on Friday.
The high-level session, held at Indira Bhawan, saw top party leadership urging the DCC heads to energize the Congress machinery at the grassroots level. Both Kharge and Gandhi emphasized that a strong district-level structure is vital for the party’s revival and deeper engagement with the people.
In a dedicated consultative session, Congress leaders from Jammu & Kashmir, including all DCC Presidents from the Union Territory, held discussions with AICC J&K Incharge General Secretary Rajni Patil, JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra, senior leader and former JKPCC chief Ghulam Ahmad Mir, and other senior office bearers.
The focus remained on the prevailing political scenario in J&K, addressing public grievances, and strategizing for grassroots mobilization. The deliberations were described as a crucial step in restructuring the party unit in the region.
A key decision during the meeting was to empower District Presidents with greater autonomy in appointing and reshuffling local office bearers. The move is part of a broader decentralization plan to revitalize grassroots leadership and boost organizational efficiency.
Mushtaq Tantary, DCC President of Bandipora, who was present in the meeting, welcomed the reforms. “This historic gathering will certainly infuse a new spirit of dedication and hard work among all of us. It’s an honour to be part of this new chapter in the Congress party’s journey,” he said.
The party leadership reiterated its resolve to strengthen the Congress base in Jammu & Kashmir through collective vision, local empowerment, and strategic planning at the district level.
