Srinagar, Dec 29 (KNS): After being appointed as the state police chief, Dr S P Vaid Thursday said media has to play a vital role to set things back on the right track in Kashmir.
Vaid, Special DG (Coordination & Law and Order), who is taking over as the next Director General of Police, upon the completion of extended term of service of K Rajendra Kumar by the end of this year, told KNS that there are lot of things to do, but will share only after joining the office as DGP.
He said he would ensure that no common man is harassed unnecessarily.
“But I would expect media to report positively which is the need of the hour. Media is mostly highlighting negative things like wherever police uses excessive force. Media wo dikhati hai jahan police waley ka dhanda chaley. They should also highlight when a traffic cop holds hand of an old man and helps him to cross the road. These things also need to be reported,” Vaid told KNS.
He said his focus will be to make police force friendlier and no innocent is harassed unnecessarily. (KNS)
