Nobody can erode Article 370, it bridges J&K with India: Congress leader

‘Call All Parties Meet before giving domicile certificates to WPRs’

Srinagar, Dec 29 (KNS): Stating that Article 370 is the bridge between India and Jammu and Kashmir, All India Congress Committee (AICC) leader, Meem Afzal on Thursday said that nobody can erode Article 370 from the state.
Addressing a news conference here at a local hotel, Afzal said that the current regime in centre can’t succeed in eroding the Article 370.
“Even nobody either from centre or from the state can erode it as it is the only bridge between JK and India,” he said.
He said that the Congress party has always supported Article 370 and will continue to support.
Afzal, who is also a spokesperson of All India Congress Committee (AICC), said that the government will also never succeed in issuing domicile certificates to West Pakistan Refugees (WPR).
“When all the parties are against the government then Congress party which is in opposition will also join their hands with the parties who are against the move,” he, according to KNS correspondent, said.
He said that any decision regarding Jammu and Kashmir is being taken very sensitively.
“If the government is trying to take any initiate like WPRs then they should call all political parties meet and whatever the meaningful decision will come out, we will go with that,” the AICC leader said.
Afzal said that the WPR is a human issue and should be dealt with sincerely.
Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the AICC leader said, “PM Modi has announced demonetization, which was a surgical strike against the common people of Kashmir and was not meant to curb the black money.”
“Where PM Modi is taking the country,” he questioned.
He said that the Modi led government had claimed to provide 2.5 lakh jobs to the unemployed youth in the country in a year but in two years, the current regime has rendered at least 10 lakh people jobless.
“All the farmers, labour class, small business holders, shopkeepers and others have been rendered jobless with the demonetization. The people have left their work and are being seen in long queues to get their own money. Thus simultaneously, it is clear that the government had made no arrangements before announcing demonetization,” he said.
He said that the government must answer people what they are doing and where they are taking the country.
“After demonetization, a huge amount has been deposited by the BJP ministers in the bank accounts. Why is government silent over it and why are they delaying to order inquiry in this regard,” he questioned. (KNS)
