Srinagar, Dec 28 (KNS): While the speculation in media circles are rife that the State Cabinet which is scheduled to meet in Jammu on Wednesday evening will decide on who would be the next Director General of Police of J&K with Special Director General Law and Order Dr. SP Vaid in the driving seat, KNS has learnt from the reliable sources that the issue of DGP has been put on hold.
According to the sources in Civil Secretariat, the today’s Cabinet meeting will just give a nod to the speech of Governor N N Vohra, which he will deliver before the forthcoming Budget session.
KNS learnt from the sources that before the Budget session, two more cabinet meetings will take place and the issue of the next DGP of J&K police will be decided in those two meetings. The State Cabinet in the next two meetings will also appoint new commissioner for the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC).
The civic body continues to remain headless ever since Bashir Ahmad Khan retired as its Commissioner. The SMC is without any head and the same has affected the overall functioning of the Corporation, sources added. Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone has been assigned the duty of looking after the affairs of SMC. (KNS)
