CBC Jammu Reviews Performance and Highlights Achievements in J&K, Ladakh
Jammu, Jan 15: The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Jammu, conducted a review meeting to evaluate the financial and physical performance of its initiatives in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh for the ongoing financial year.
The meeting, chaired by CBC Director Ghulam Abbas, was held at the Regional Office in Jammu and attended by Deputy Director Ayushi Puri, Senior Accounts Officer Ashwani Kumar Gupta, Administrative Officer O.P. Maurya, and other key staff members.
The CBC reported achieving 65% of its target for Integrated Communication and Outreach Programs (ICOPs) in the region. Out of the planned 3 large, 6 medium, 16 small, and 24 mini ICOPs, the department has successfully conducted 1 large, 2 medium, 9 small, and 19 mini ICOPs. Seven additional mini ICOPs are planned, with programs slated for Kashmir, Udhampur, Rajouri, and Poonch.
Director Ghulam Abbas commended the field units for their achievements despite challenges posed by the model code of conduct in Jammu & Kashmir. Deputy Director Ayushi Puri highlighted the department’s efforts to deploy teams in remote areas of Ladakh, including Turtuk, Kargil, and Tangtse, and organize publicity initiatives in border regions.
In Jammu, CBC organized several ICOPs across Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, Akhnoor, Rajouri, Doda, Padder, and Poonch. A notable eight-day publicity program during the Jhiri Mela (Marh) reached thousands of people, disseminating key information and promoting government initiatives.
The meeting also noted CBC’s contributions during the Amarnath Yatra, where it organized 228 theme-based cultural programs at the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu, emphasizing central schemes and the rich cultural heritage of J&K. Additionally, private registered troupes (PRTs) from the region represented J&K at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.
Newly appointed Administrative Officer O.P. Maurya was welcomed into the CBC team during the meeting.
The review underscored the department’s commitment to enhancing outreach in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, ensuring effective communication and engagement in even the most remote areas.
