Seeks status of work on Bafliaz-Rajouri stretch of Mughal Road
JAMMU, NOVEMBER 22: Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs today, Abdul Rehman Veeri today set the deadline of December 2016 ending for the completion of Chenani-Nashri tunnel.
Mr Veeri said this during a high level meeting convened here today to review the progress of National Highway projects.
The officers informed the Minister that all the civil works have been completed on Chenani-Nashri tunnel and testing of the operation of different equipments is awaited. Meanwhile, lifting and cleaning of leftover material inside and around openings is being done.
Taking exception to the laid back approach towards maintenance of highway by the construction companies working on four-lanning of Jammu-Srinagar highway, Mr Veeri made it clear to the executing agencies that it is their responsibility to maintain the highway in their respective areas of operation until completion of four–lanning work.
Mr Veeri directed the concessionaires to keep their men and machinery ready for clearance of Srinagar-Jammu road in case of blockade due to snowfall, landslides and other eventualities.
Mr Veeri stressed on the officers to complete the projects within stipulated time for easing out the movement of public.
Mr Veeri said Government is committed for the progress and development of the state.
Officers informed the Minister that the construction on Baflaiz to Surankote stretch has almost been completed and from Thanamandi to Rajouri land acquisition and forest clearance process is in the final stage.
The executing agency, Forest and Revenue departments will form a joint committee which will check the progress of the work on the regular basis on the directions of the Minister.
The Minister sought construction status about the Loran-Tangmarg road from the concerned officials.
He was informed that from Poonch side base work has been completed on 6.5km and blacktopping will be done by next year.
On the Batote-Kishtwar meeting was informed that physical work will start within week’s time.
The meeting also discussed work status of Udhampur-Ramban, Ramban-Banihal, Banihal-Qazigund, Banihal-Srinagar, Poonch-Akhnoor road stretches.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary Public Works (R&B) Rohit Kansal, Pawan Kotwal Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Chief Engineer Sampark Brig Bhattacharya, Alog Mengi Chief Engineer R&B Jammu, Ravindar Gupta Chief Engineer Mughal Road, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Hem Raj General Manager (T) NHAI, Director Planning R&B Tariq Ahmed Khan, Representatives of different concessionaires.
