5-Marla Plots Proposed for J&K’s Disaster-Hit, Landless Families : Govt.

Srinagar, Oct 28 : The Jammu and Kashmir Revenue Department has confirmed the formulation of a proposal to provide state land to families rendered landless by natural calamities.

The announcement was made in a written reply to MLA Sumbal Hilal Akbar Lone during the ongoing Autumn Session of the Assembly.

According to the department, the proposal would allot a 5-marla plot of state land to each eligible family on a lease basis strictly for residential construction.

The initiative targets those affected by disasters including floods, landslides, cloudbursts, and earthquakes. The proposal is currently undergoing inter-departmental consultations before it can be finalized the department said further in a written document of which a copy lies with Kashmir Convener.
