05 Campuses from Kashmir earn National Recognition in Green Campus Programme

Pulwama, March 31: In a significant achievement for environmental education and sustainability, five campuses from Kashmir have been recognized under the prestigious Green Campus Programme, implemented by Climate Reality India and South Asia, which awarded a total of 17 campuses across India this cycle.

Among the awardees, Higher Secondary School (HSS) Sonwar, HSS Shalimar, HSS Kakapora, and Government College for Women, Srinagar were honored with the Gold Award for their outstanding efforts in promoting sustainable practices and environmental stewardship on campus.

Meanwhile, HSS Samboora secured the Silver Award, acknowledging its commendable initiatives toward creating a greener and more sustainable campus environment.

The Green Campus Programme, led by Climate Reality India and South Asia, evaluates institutions on various parameters, including waste management, water conservation, energy efficiency, biodiversity enhancement, and climate action initiatives. The recognition of these five campuses highlights Kashmir’s growing commitment to environmental responsibility and youth-driven sustainability efforts.

Speaking on the occasion, Aditya Pundir, Director, Climate Reality India and South Asia, said:
