3rd Lidderwat Trail Run Concludes at JIM&WS, Pahalgam

Nunwan, Pahalgam, Oct 23: The Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering & Winter Sports (JIM&WS) successfully conducted the 3rd Lidderwat Trail Run along the scenic Aru–Pahalgam route on Thursday, attracting over 200 participants from across northern India. Spanning 17 kilometers of rugged terrain and alpine forest trails, the event combined adventure, endurance, and the spirit of community engagement.

Organized in collaboration with the Civil Administration, Pahalgam, and the Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Department, the trail run aimed to promote physical fitness, mental resilience, and tourism, while fostering a sense of national integration among participants. Runners hailed from Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and other regions, with 130 boys and 70 girls showcasing remarkable determination and stamina.

In the boys’ category, Amndeep clinched first place, followed by Hanas Raj in second and Pankaj in third. In the girls’ category, Soniya topped the podium, with Anjali and Aiman finishing second and third respectively. In addition, 20 consolation prizes and 100 special awards were distributed during the prize-giving ceremony, graced by Colonel Hem Chandra Singh, Principal of JIM&WS, along with local dignitaries and officials from the tourism and civil administration departments.

“The Lidderwat Trail Run not only tests endurance but also strengthens community spirit and promotes sustainable tourism in the valley,” said Colonel Singh, commending participants for their resilience and enthusiasm.

Building on the success of the trail run, JIM&WS, with continued support from the Civil Administration and J&K Tourism, announced upcoming adventure initiatives including a Cycling Expedition and a Paragliding Expedition, further positioning the region as a hub for adventure sports and mountain tourism in India.
