Srinagar, June 6: The Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum (JKReTTF), Khalid Rafeeq Bhat, has strongly condemned the reported use of unparliamentary language by the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Sumbal during an official visit to Government Primary School (GPS) Check Shadipora.
According to the JKReTTF, the ZEO allegedly used disrespectful and inappropriate language while addressing both male and female teaching staff at the school, sparking outrage within the teaching community.
An official spokesperson of the organisation said the incident has raised serious concerns about the treatment of educators by officials in the education department.
“This is not just about inappropriate words—it reflects a dangerous pattern of growing disrespect towards our teaching community,” said Mr. Bhat in a statement. “Teachers are the backbone of our education system, and such behavior is both unprofessional and unacceptable.”
Bhat urged the Education Minister, Sakina Itoo, and Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Dr. G.N. Itoo to take immediate action. He demanded the transfer of the ZEO in question, asserting that such steps are necessary to safeguard the dignity of educators and to send a strong message that misconduct will not be tolerated.
“We expect the administration to treat our teachers with the dignity and respect they rightfully deserve,” Mr. Bhat added. “Any attempt to humiliate or demoralize them must be confronted head-on.”
The JKReTTF reiterated its commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of teachers across Jammu and Kashmir and vowed to continue voicing concerns against any actions that undermine the honour and professionalism of the teaching community.
