Onagam, June 5: In line with the directives issued by the Chief Education Officer Bandipora, Government High School (GHS) Onagam on Thursday observed World Environment Day with a series of awareness and cleanliness activities aimed at promoting environmental responsibility among students.

The event commenced with an environment pledge, where students and staff committed to safeguarding the planet through sustainable practices, reducing plastic use, conserving resources, and being active voices for nature.

A seminar followed the pledge, during which students spoke on various environmental concerns, including pollution, climate change, and the importance of biodiversity. The school also organised a poster and painting competition showcasing students’ creativity on the theme “Ending Plastic Pollution Globally.” A dress competition reflecting eco-friendly themes was also part of the celebrations.

Later, a cleanliness drive was launched in and around the school premises. Students, guided by staff members, undertook the cleaning of nearby water bodies and channels, emphasizing the importance of maintaining hygienic and pollution-free surroundings.
