Pulwama, May 30: In a major crackdown on illegal mineral extraction, the Geology and Mining Department of Pulwama district seized eight vehicles during a night-long operation carried out across multiple locations in South Kashmir.
The operation was spearheaded by District Mineral Officer (DMO) Dr. Khurshid Ahmad, who led his team through targeted raids in Pampore, Kakapora, and Lassipora areas. The seized vehicles were reportedly being used for the illegal transportation of minerals, officials confirmed to Kashmir Convener.
DMO Khurshid Ahmad said the department has intensified its efforts to tackle illegal mining in the district and assured that violators will face strict action. “All such cases will be pursued under the rules through a fast-track system,” he said. “Our teams have been put on high alert and operations are ongoing in multiple areas to monitor and prevent such illegal activities.”
The department reiterated its commitment to enforcing mining regulations and protecting the region’s mineral resources from unlawful exploitation.
