Dr. Altaf Hussain Malik Becomes First International Board-Certified Maxillofacial Surgeon from J&K
Honoured by International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Singapore

Srinagar, May 30: Dr. Altaf Hussain Malik has been honoured with the prestigious International Board Certification in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery by the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (IAOMS), headquartered in Chicago, USA.
Dr. Malik who hails from Khayar Village of Bandipora district successfully cleared both theory and practical examinations conducted by a panel of global experts and board members from various countries.
He was conferred the certification during the IAOMS international meeting held in Singapore on May 23, 2025, attended by over 2,000 delegates from 82 countries.
With this accomplishment, Dr. Altaf Malik has become the first maxillofacial surgeon from Jammu and Kashmir to receive international board certification in this specialized surgical field.
Currently serving as a faculty member and senior consultant at the Government Dental College and Superspeciality Hospital Srinagar, Dr. Malik has over two decades of experience in treating temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, facial trauma, oral cancer, dental implants, facial deformities, and related pathologies.
During the Singapore conference, Dr. Malik also presented two research papers focusing on TMJ disorders, which were highly appreciated by international experts and peers in the field.
His recognition is being hailed as a major milestone for the medical community in Jammu and Kashmir, symbolizing global acknowledgement of local expertise and dedication to advancing surgical care.
