Poonch, May 28: Reaffirming its unwavering commitment to its veterans, the Indian Army’s elite counter-insurgency formation organized an Ex-Servicemen (ESM) meet at Chhatral in Poonch. The event witnessed the participation of 32 Ex-Servicemen, highlighting the enduring bond between serving personnel and their retired comrades.
This initiative is part of the Army’s broader perception management and outreach programmes, aimed at ensuring the well-being, integration, and continued support of veterans. Emphasis was laid on career guidance, welfare schemes, and post-retirement engagement, with the Army facilitating avenues for veterans to leverage their experience and skills in meaningful civilian roles.
A key highlight of the event was the assistance provided for pension and welfare benefits. Dedicated help desks and liaison officers were on hand to guide veterans through processes related to pensions, ECHS healthcare facilities, and financial entitlements, ensuring timely and hassle-free access to support.
Beyond the administrative support, the meet served as a platform for community building, where veterans engaged in informal discussions, shared feedback, and received welfare updates. The event fostered camaraderie, bridging the gap between past and present service members.
The Indian Army continues to stand as a pillar of support for its veterans, honouring their service and reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding not just the nation’s borders but also the dignity and welfare of those who once wore the uniform with pride.
