Srinagar, May 20: Bharti Airtel and Google have announced a strategic partnership to offer six months of complimentary 100 GB Google One cloud storage to Airtel’s postpaid and Wi-Fi customers.
An official spokesperson said the initiative is aimed at easing the growing challenge of limited device storage for smartphone users across India.
As part of the partnership, Airtel customers can now securely back up photos, videos, documents, WhatsApp chats, and other digital content on the cloud. The offer is compatible with both Android and iOS platforms and allows users to share the 100 GB storage with up to five additional people.
“With smartphones becoming the main device for managing both personal and professional information, storage has become a significant concern for users,” said Siddharth Sharma, Director Marketing and CEO – Connected Homes, Bharti Airtel. “We are pleased to collaborate with Google to provide secure, dependable, and user-friendly storage solutions to millions of our customers.”
Karen Teo, Vice President, Platforms & Devices Partnerships, APAC, Google, said, “We are excited to partner with Airtel to bring Google One to millions in India. Together, we will make it easier for users to safely back up photos, videos, and important files with more storage across Google Photos, Drive, Gmail and more.”
The six-month introductory offer is available at no extra cost and can be activated via the Airtel Thanks App. After the free period, a nominal charge of ₹125 per month will apply. Customers who choose not to continue can opt out and cancel their Google One membership.
The move is expected to enhance digital convenience and offer a reliable alternative to physical storage devices, especially for users frequently dealing with space constraints.
