Bandipora: In line with the directions of Khalil Ahmad Choudhary, Chairman DLSA and Principal District & Sessions Judge, Bandipora, and under the able guidance of Mr. Sheikh Babar Hussain, Secretary DLSA Bandipora, a team from the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) visited the fire-affected areas of Sumbal Main Market today to assess the situation and extend support to the victims.
The visiting team comprised Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel (CLADC) Adv. Bilal Ahmad Bhat, officials from Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Sumbal, and Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) from DLSA Bandipora and TLSC Sumbal.
During the visit, the team interacted with neighbors and residents of the affected area, who confirmed that the devastating fire broke out during night hours. It was also verified that the source of livelihood for most of the affected individuals depended entirely on the now-damaged residential and commercial properties.
The DLSA team carried out an on-ground assessment and assured the victims that legal aid and necessary relief measures would be facilitated. The team emphasized the commitment of DLSA to ensuring timely support, including assistance in documentation for compensation, legal guidance, and coordination with relevant departments.
The District Legal Services Authority reiterated its role in standing by the distressed and ensuring justice and support reaches those most in need during times of crisis.
