Dehradun, May 9: REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, has sanctioned ₹6.01 crore under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme for deploying five Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) in Uttarakhand. The initiative, part of REC’s ‘Doctor Aapke Dwaar’ campaign, aims to deliver doorstep healthcare services to underserved and remote communities, with a special focus on women’s health.
The MMU initiative was formally launched by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, in the presence of Health Minister Shri Dhan Singh Rawat and senior state health officials. Also present were senior representatives from REC and its implementing partner CSC Academy.
Two MMUs each will be stationed in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts, while one will be deployed in Tehri Garhwal. One of the five mobile units has been exclusively designated for women’s healthcare and will be operated entirely by female healthcare professionals to address gender-specific needs in conservative and hard-to-reach areas.
Equipped with diagnostic tools, basic treatment facilities, and staffed by trained medical teams, the MMUs will provide free primary healthcare services six days a week. Their operations will be closely coordinated with the Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) and the State Health Department, aligning with the broader government goal of “Swasth Uttarakhand, Samriddh Uttarakhand.”
The initiative is part of a larger pan-India rollout under REC Foundation’s ‘Doctor Aapke Dwaar’ programme, already running in states like Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, and Punjab. REC’s sustained focus on healthcare through CSR reflects
