Srinagar, May 7  : Noted sculptor, mural designer, and social activist Rouble Nagi has strongly condemned the recent shelling by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly the targeted attack on a Gurudwara in Poonch, terming it a “vile and inexcusable act of barbarity.”

In a statement, Nagi said, “I strongly condemn the barbaric attack on Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha Sahib in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir. The targeting of innocent Sikh civilians at a sacred site is a vile and inexcusable act of barbarity.” She said the incident reflected Pakistan’s growing status as a “breeding ground and safe haven for global terrorism.”

Nagi drew a sharp contrast between the strategic restraint exercised by India and Pakistan’s deliberate targeting of civilians. “While India conducts precise, strategic operations targeting only terrorist camps within Pakistan—taking utmost care to avoid civilian or even Pakistani military casualties—Pakistan’s response is to strike unarmed civilians and religious sanctuaries,” she said.

At least 12 civilians, including four children, were killed and 57 others injured on Wednesday when the Pakistani Army opened fire in border areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Poonch district suffered the worst, accounting for all civilian fatalities. Many of the injured remain in critical condition.

The Indian Armed Forces had earlier carried out precision strikes using advanced loitering munitions and other high-tech weapon systems on terrorist launch pads located in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. The strikes came in retaliation to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 people dead.

Nagi urged the international community to take serious note of Pakistan’s continued support for terrorism and its repeated violations of humanitarian norms.
