SSP Mehta Orders Strict Measures for Non-Local Workers’ Security in Bandipora

Calls for strong action against drug trafficking, Other illegal activities

Bandipora, May 5: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bandipora, Harmeet Singh Mehta on Monday called for taking concrete steps for ensuring the safety and security of non-local labourers and employees working in the district.

SSP Mehta passed the directions while reviewing security measures and crime control in the district. He said the supervisory officers and SHOs must take all the measures to improve investigation with latest techniques and standard operating practices to ensure safety and security of non-local labourers and employees.

He also called for enhancing intelligence gathering capabilities and strengthening anti-drug initiatives.

According to a statement issued by Bandipora Police on its social media handle, the meeting was convened to assess the overall security scenario and address issues concerning new criminal laws, the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), and the handling of dynamic data.

SSP Mehta emphasized the importance of efficient policing, timely investigation, and the swift disposal of cases to maintain public trust in the police system.

Particular focus was laid on drug-related offenses, with the SSP urging a zero-tolerance policy under the NDPS Act. Officers were instructed to take strict action against those involved in unlawful activities under UAPA and to adopt modern investigative methods along with standard operating procedures to enhance the quality of investigations.

Discussions also revolved around enhancing intelligence gathering, strengthening anti-drug initiatives, and improving coordination among different security agencies to ensure a robust security environment in the district. The officers were instructed to maintain heightened vigilance, particularly in sensitive areas, to counter any potential threats to peace and stability.
