Double EMI Deduction Sparks Outrage Among Govt Employees: JK General Line Teachers Forum Seeks Immediate Refund

Srinagar, May 4: The Jammu and Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum has strongly condemned the Jammu and Kashmir Bank over the deduction of two EMI installments from the salary accounts of government employees within the same month. The Forum described the action as “unjust” and said it has triggered widespread financial distress among thousands of salaried employees across the Union Territory.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Forum expressed serious concern and urged the higher authorities of J&K Bank to immediately investigate the matter. “This unexpected move has created not just economic hardship but also shaken the confidence of employees in the banking system,” the Forum said.

Calling for urgent redressal, the Forum demanded that any excess amount deducted from employee accounts be promptly refunded. It also urged the bank to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the future, noting that such lapses severely impact the financial stability of government employees who rely solely on their monthly wages to run their households.

The Forum emphasized that safeguarding the interests of employees and maintaining public trust in financial institutions must remain a top priority.
