Srinagar, May 3: The Jammu and Kashmir Employees Joint Action Committee (J&K EJAC) has expressed deep concern over the recent double deduction of EMI installments from the salary accounts of government employees, terming it an unjust and unexplained financial burden.
The development has triggered widespread distress among employees across the Union Territory.
Addressing the issue, J&K EJAC President Wajahat Hussain Durrani said the additional EMI deduction, made without any prior intimation, has pushed many employees into financial discomfort at a time when they are already struggling to manage household budgets. “This extra installment has placed an unexpected and unjust burden on employees, many of whom are already managing household budgets under financial stress. Such unexplained deductions without prior communication are unacceptable,” Durrani said.
The Employees Joint Action Committee has called upon J&K Bank and the finance department to act swiftly and transparently. The forum emphasized that any financial transaction affecting employees’ salaries must be carried out with proper communication and consent.
The EJAC has urged for immediate reversal of the excess EMI installment and sought clarity from concerned authorities to prevent such lapses in the future. The matter has also been flagged with the Lieutenant Governor’s office and the bank’s zonal office at M.A. Road, Srinagar.
