MCB Holds IEC Camp Against Drug Abuse

Bandipora, April 25: Under the Nasha Mukta Abhiyan, the Municipal Council Bandipora organized an awareness camp today in Ward No. 3 to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and advocate for a drug‑free community.

The event, held in collaboration with the Health, Police, Education, Social Welfare, Excise & Taxation, Youth Services & Sports departments, and the Jammu & Kashmir National Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKNRLM), drew active participation from local residents, government employees, volunteers, and other stakeholders.

Speakers highlighted the physical, social, and economic harms of substance abuse and shared information on support services available for individuals and families. Police representatives outlined legal consequences, while health officials provided guidance on prevention and rehabilitation. Youth Services & Sports and Education departments encouraged students and young people to engage in healthy activities as alternatives to drug use.

Municipal Council members called on the community to sustain collective efforts toward a healthier, safer, and drug‑free Bandipora. “Today’s camp underscores our shared responsibility to protect youth from addiction and build a stronger society,” one organizer said.

The council announced plans for follow‑up workshops and community outreach drives to maintain momentum in the fight against drug abuse.
