FWICE Condemns Pahalgam Attack, Announces Blanket Boycott of Pakistani Artists

Mumbai, April 23: The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has strongly condemned the recent brutal attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir—an act claimed by The Resistance Front, linked to Lashkar‑e‑Taiba. Drawing parallels with the Pulwama tragedy of February 2019, FWICE decried the violence as a direct assault on innocent civilians.

Reaffirming its commitment to national unity, FWICE has reissued its longstanding directive—first announced on February 18, 2019—for complete non‑cooperation with Pakistani artists, singers, and technicians in Indian film and entertainment projects. The decision follows reports of ongoing collaboration with Pakistani actor Fawad Khan on the Hindi film Abir Gullal.

Effective immediately, FWICE has imposed a blanket boycott on all Pakistani talent in any Indian or international productions and warned that members or affiliate associations who defy this order will face disciplinary action. The Federation also affirmed it will take necessary steps to block the release of Abir Gullal in India.

“Nation comes first—always,” the Federation’s statement declared. “We stand united with the victims of this senseless attack and call on the film fraternity to honor the sacrifices of our security forces and citizens by upholding national integrity.”
