Major Reshuffle in J&K Police: DIGs, SSPs Among 50 Officers Transferred

Srinagar, April 17 : The Government of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday ordered the transfer and posting of 50 IPS and JKPS officers, including several DIGs and SSPs, in a move aimed at streamlining policing operations across the Union Territory.

The transfer order, issued by the Home Department under Government Order No. 207-Home of 2025, resulted in notable changes in key positions across the state’s police setup. Among the major appointments, Sheikh Junaid Mehmood IPS was posted as DIG IR Kashmir, while Sarah Rizvi IPS was assigned as DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range. Rayees Mohammad Bhat IPS, who was earlier DIG Udhampur-Reasi, has now been posted as DIG CID Kashmir, a critical position linked to counter-terrorism and intelligence gathering.

The high-profile post of SSP Srinagar has been assigned to G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy IPS, who will be replacing Imtiyaz Hussain Mir JKPS. Ajaz Ahmad Bhat IPS has been appointed as SSP Traffic City Srinagar, a key role in managing the city’s complex traffic network.

The CID wing saw a major shuffle, with Peerzada Naveed JKPS posted as SSP SB CID Kashmir, while Amit Gupta JKPS was appointed as SSP HQ CID.

Other important changes include Tanushree IPS being shifted from SP SIA Kashmir to SIA Headquarters, and Bisma Qazi IPS being posted as Commandant of the 2nd Woman Battalion JKAP. Rohit Baskotra JKPS, who was handling Traffic on the National Highway, has been assigned as SSP Special Security Group.

The reshuffle also addressed vacant posts in training, armed battalions, and liaison assignments. Ramesh Kumar Angral JKPS was appointed Director Home Guards Kashmir, while Tahir Sajad Bhat JKPS was posted as Additional Director of the State Investigation Agency (SIA). (KNS)
