Floriculture Department organises Interaction Programme for Growers

Bandipora April 12: Department of Floriculture Bandipora on Saturday organised an interaction programme for flower growers in Nishat Park Bandipora.

The programme was focused on empowering flower growers through the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) scheme.

Senior official of the Department, Ghulam Mohammad Khan informed that the objective of the programme was to sensitize the growers about the commercial floriculture sector, focusing on the key areas including Establishing ornamental nurseries, Producing cut flowers under protected and open conditions, Post-harvest management, Aromatic plant cultivation and Value addition.

During the programme, the officials elaborated on the components and financial incentives under the CSS-MIDH and Agriculture Extension (ATMA) schemes urging growers to leverage these government initiatives to pursue commercial floriculture activities.

An official informed that the interaction programme was a part of an ongoing initiative by the Department of Floriculture, to bridge the gap between growers and the department to promote commercial floriculture and generate livelihood opportunities for unemployed youth.
