Bandipora, April 11: Chief Education Officer (CEO) Bandipora, Abdul Rashid Mir, Friday convened a meeting with all Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) of the district to review the functioning of the education sector and outline a roadmap for accountability, transparency, and academic progress in government schools.

During the meeting, the officer emphasized a zero-tolerance policy against indiscipline and reiterated his commitment to reviving the credibility and performance of the education department.

The ZEOs were instructed to maintain strict punctuality, avoid unnecessary movement during duty hours, and ensure that academic and administrative responsibilities are executed diligently.

A major highlight of the meeting was the CEO’s directive to monitor and improve student enrollment, particularly in primary and middle schools, where low strength remains a concern.

He advised the ZEOs to conduct a door-to-door campaign and ensure collaboration with village heads and parents to boost enrollment and prevent dropouts

The CEO also laid stress on timely distribution of textbooks, free uniforms, and midday meals, and called for complete transparency in these schemes. He warned against any mismanagement in these areas and stated that disciplinary action will be initiated against defaulters.

On the subject of infrastructure, the ZEOs were directed to compile updated data on school buildings, boundary walls, and availability of basic facilities like toilets, drinking water, and electricity. The aim is to push proposals under Samagra Shiksha and other schemes for early redressal.

The issue of pending salaries and regularization of ReTs and Contingent Paid Workers (CPWs) also came up during the meeting. The CEO assured that the department is pursuing these matters with higher authorities and will continue to raise genuine grievances at appropriate forums.

In an effort to foster academic excellence, the CEO instructed schools to hold monthly parent-teacher meetings, encourage student participation in cultural and sports activities, and ensure regular classroom assessments.

Speaking to the ZEOs, Abdul Rashid Mir stated, “We must work collectively and transparently. Our schools should reflect discipline, learning, and trust. Let us rebuild that confidence among the public.”
