New Delhi, March 29: The Indian Army has launched ‘Operation Brahma’ to provide urgent medical assistance to Myanmar in the wake of a devastating earthquake that struck the country on March 28. A 118-member team from the Shatrujeet Brigade Medical Responders, led by Lieutenant Colonel Jagneet Gill, is being deployed with essential medical equipment and supplies.
The Airborne Angels Task Force, known for its expertise in disaster response, will establish a 60-bed Medical Treatment Centre to provide immediate care to the injured. The facility will be equipped to handle trauma cases, emergency surgeries, and other critical medical needs, supporting Myanmar’s healthcare system, which has been overwhelmed by the disaster.
The deployment is part of India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and reflects the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’—the world is one family. The Indian Army’s swift response underscores the country’s commitment to standing by friendly nations in times of crisis.
The operation is being coordinated with the Ministry of External Affairs and in partnership with Myanmar’s authorities to ensure effective humanitarian assistance.
