Srinagar, March 27 – The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association has formally written to the Speaker of the J&K Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, urging stricter enforcement of parliamentary norms. The Association’s National Convenor, Nasir Khuehami, highlighted concerns over ministers reading out bureaucratically prepared speeches instead of engaging in informed discussions.
Khuehami emphasized that legislative proceedings demand ministers demonstrate their understanding of policy matters rather than simply reciting scripted responses. Citing parliamentary rules, he stressed that excessive reliance on written speeches reflects a lack of seriousness and weakens the credibility of Assembly debates.
