Bandipora: On the eve of the International Day of Forests, Kashmir Timber Association President Jameel Ahmed Dar organized a plantation drive at Irrigation Colony in Sumbal, Bandipora district, on Friday afternoon.
Spokesperson of the association said the initiative aimed to raise awareness about the importance of afforestation and environmental conservation. Several local residents, environmental enthusiasts, and members of the Kashmir Timber Association participated in the drive, planting saplings to promote greenery in the area.
Speaking to the media, Jameel Ahmed Dar said, “As you know, today, March 21, marks the International Day of Forests. On behalf of our association, I want to convey a message to our members: we should plant trees every year to help keep our environment clean. This will benefit future generations and contribute to a healthier society.”
He emphasized the urgent need for collective efforts to combat deforestation and climate change. Highlighting the significance of trees in maintaining ecological balance, he urged the community to take proactive steps toward environmental preservation.
The plantation drive was widely appreciated by locals, who expressed their support for such initiatives to enhance the Kashmir’s green cover.
