Election Preparedness: DC Bandipora Holds Meeting with Political Parties

Bandipora, March 20: The Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, who is also the District Election Officer (DEO), on Thursday chaired a meeting at the Mini Secretariat Bandipora to discuss various measures for strengthening coordination between the election machinery and political parties.

The meeting was attended by representatives of various political parties, including BJP, INC, Samajwadi Party, PDP, JKNPF, JK Apni Party, AIP, and other concerned stakeholders.

The participants held detailed discussions on the role of the district election machinery, including the DEO, EROs, and BLOs, in ensuring smooth conduct of the electoral process.

Speaking on the occasion, DEO Manzoor Ahmad Qadri said that, as per the directions of the Election Commission of India (ECI), meetings with political parties are conducted at both constituency and district levels to review mechanisms related to electoral roll updation and other essential processes.

The Deputy Commissioner urged the political party representatives to submit the list of booth-level agents, counting agents, and other concerned personnel to the respective EROs for proper training on electoral procedures.

He stressed the importance of facilitating the enrollment of all eligible voters in the electoral roll, ensuring that no eligible voter is left out of the election process.

The representatives also shared their feedback and put forth various suggestions, particularly emphasizing the need to enhance public awareness regarding the electoral process, including the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

The Deputy Commissioner assured that all genuine suggestions would be taken up with higher authorities and that necessary steps would be implemented to maximize voter awareness, especially in remote areas.

Among others, the meeting was attended by Deputy District Election Officer Mohammad Rafiq Bhat and other concerned.
