HKM College Organises awareness Programme on Intellectual Property Rights

Bandipora, March 17: The Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Technology Development Centre, Extension Centre Srinagar, in collaboration with HKM College Bandipora, organized an Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Awareness Program on Monday.

An official spokesperson said the event aimed to educate students and faculty about the significance of IPR in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. The program commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Irshad Ahmad Bhat, Head of the Department of Physics, followed by an inaugural speech delivered by Prof. Bilquees Rasool, a senior faculty member of the college, who emphasized the role of intellectual property in academia and business.

On the occasion Shahid Ansari, Founder and CEO of Start-up Kashmir, delivered a comprehensive presentation on “The Role of IPR in Startups and Innovation,” highlighting how startups can leverage intellectual property rights to protect their ideas and drive economic growth.

Aijaz Hussain, Faculty at MSME-TDC (PPDC) Extension Centre Srinagar, delivered an engaging talk on “The Role of MSME-TDC (PPDC) in Promoting Entrepreneurship Culture and an Introduction to IoT,” providing valuable insights into the role of MSME-TDC in supporting entrepreneurship and the emerging significance of the Internet of Things (IoT) in business and innovation.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Prof. Sajad Manzoor, Head of the Department of Political Science, who expressed gratitude to the organizers, speakers, and participants. Dr. G. M. Khan, Faculty of English, served as the rapporteur, documenting the key discussions and takeaways from the program.

The IPR Awareness Program proved to be a highly informative and engaging initiative, encouraging students and faculty to explore the potential of intellectual property rights in fostering creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
