JKSA Welcomes Prof. Rizvi as JMI Registrar, Calls for Student-Centric Reforms

New Delhi, March 15: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Friday extended heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Mohammad Mahtab Alam Rizvi on his appointment as the full-time, regular Registrar of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), New Delhi.

Hailing Prof. Rizvi as a distinguished academic and administrator, the National Convenor of JKSA, Nasir Khuehami, expressed confidence that his wealth of experience—including his current role as Director of the Nelson Mandela Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution—would enable him to lead the university to new heights and restore its past glory.

Khuehami emphasized that Prof. Rizvi’s tenure presents an opportunity to address fundamental issues crucial to transforming Jamia into a world-class institution.

“We urge and hope that Prof. Rizvi will prioritize creating a positive, student-friendly atmosphere on campus, ensuring fairness and merit in addressing concerns like nepotism and hostel accommodation issues,” said Khuehami.

JKSA also highlighted the persistent accommodation crisis faced by hundreds of Kashmiri students at JMI, despite the existence of a dedicated hostel built specifically for them.

Khuehami expressed optimism that Prof. Rizvi would take proactive steps to resolve this pressing issue, which, he noted, would serve as a positive gesture in fostering trust and confidence among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.

Describing Prof. Rizvi as a visionary academician and researcher, Khuehami assured full cooperation from JKSA in supporting initiatives that would advance Jamia Millia Islamia’s growth and academic excellence.

“We look forward to supporting Prof. Rizvi’s leadership in enhancing education, research, and student welfare, and we believe his tenure will bring significant strides for the university,” Khuehami concluded.
