Srinagar, Mar 14: Directorate of Health Services Kashmir on Friday ordered an inquiry to ascertain the facts into alleged negligence at a hospital in Chadoora Budgam a video of which went viral on social media.
Director Health Services Kashmir constituted a 3-member committee headed by Deputy Director Health Services Dr Jehanziab Tanki to verify the claims made in the video and determine whether any lapses occurred in patient care. Principal RIH&FW Dr Mohd Iqbal Bhat and Zonal Medical Officer SR Gunj Dr Shafqat Nazir shall assist him in the inquiry.
According to an official statement, the team will analyze electronic records, review CCTV footage, and examine duty rosters to ascertain the facts. “Patients and staff members will also be interviewed to identify any possible errors of omission or commission,” spokesperson said. “Based on the findings, the committee will recommend necessary actions to ensure accountability and prevent such incidents in the future”.
The team has been asked to submit their report by 4:00PM on Saturday.
He said the inquiry committee will also examine the possibility that the video was deliberately set-up or edited to defame a busy Government Hospital by some vested interests who have made earlier attempts to defame Government Hospitals and mislead patients and the public as in the case of SDH Bijbehara and CHC Pattan where orchestrated/fake videos were uploaded on social media.
“In such a case the committee will recommend action under the relevant sections of the law against the perpetrators of such nefarious attempts, if any”.
Spokesperson reiterated that while genuine grievances would be addressed, any deliberate attempts to mislead the public and damage the credibility of government hospitals would be dealt strictly.
