Kashmir Women Cricket Team Leaves for Maharashtra Tour

Srinagar, March 12, 2025: In a significant initiative to promote sports among Kashmiri youth, a women’s cricket team from Kashmir has embarked on a tour to Maharashtra under the aegis of the Chinar Corps and Aseem Foundation.

An official spokesperson said the 15-member squad was flagged off by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Chinar Corps at Badami Bagh, Srinagar. The tour is designed to provide young female cricketers with exposure and an opportunity to hone their skills by competing with the Maharashtra Cricket Team and interacting with seasoned cricket professionals.

During the tour, the players will train at national-level facilities arranged by Aseem Foundation in Pune and will also get a chance to explore Mumbai, the financial capital of the country. The initiative aims at broadening the players’ horizons, fostering unity, and empowering Kashmiri women in the field of sports.

The Indian Army remains committed to engaging, uplifting, and empowering the women of Kashmir by providing such opportunities to help them excel in various fields, including sports. Speaking at the flagging-off ceremony, the GOC of Chinar Corps congratulated the team members on their selection and wished them success in their future endeavors.
