PAMPORE, March 10: Police District Awantipora organised a medical camp under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan as part of the J&K Police’s Civic Action Programme (CAP) at far-flung village Batdalaw, Khrew, area of Police Sub-Division Pampore.
SDPO Pampore Ravenderpal Singh, SHO Khrew Syed Mubarak, expert doctors, healthcare professionals, local community members, NGOs, and social workers were present on the occasion.
An official spokesperson said an awareness session on the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan educated attendees about the harmful effects of substance abuse, available rehabilitation options, and preventive measures.
The Police officials, along with healthcare specialists, encouraged individuals to adopt a healthy lifestyle and extend support to those battling addiction. “The initiative received an overwhelming response, reinforcing the collective commitment to public health and social welfare”.
Speaking to Kashmir Convener, General Secretary of the Gujjar and Bakerwal Conference, Choudhary Mohammad Yaseen Poswal, said that the medical camp on drug abuse organized today is a commendable initiative by the J&K Police Department, and people should actively participate in such programmes.
He emphasized that similar programs should be organized everywhere to ensure that Jammu and Kashmir remains completely free from drugs, preventing the spread of this social evil.
SDPO Pampore, Ravenderpal Singh, said awareness was spread about the harmful effects of drugs in our society and how individuals can protect themselves from this menace. He said the key message conveyed to the public was to stay away from drugs and keep society free from this evil. “A doctor was also present at the event and provided insights into drug abuse and its consequences”.
He urged people to inform police if they came across any information regarding drug supply or individuals involved in such activities.
