SAKHI OSC Bandipora Featured in Special Women’s Day Edition ‘Sakhi Shines’

Bandipora, March 8: SAKHI One Stop Centre (OSC) Bandipora has earned national recognition by being featured as the cover story in the Women’s Day Special Edition of SAKHI Shines, a publication by Pune-based Kashmira Puravasini Publication (KPP).

The feature highlights the leadership of Centre Administrator of SAKHI OSC Bandipora Ishrat Ayoub for her dedication to women’s empowerment and rights. Under her leadership, the centre has provided crucial support to survivors of violence, transforming countless lives.

The magazine hails the centre as a “Model of Support for Women”, emphasizing its role in offering protection, legal aid, and rehabilitation services.

“The recognition belongs to every woman who dared to speak up and every team member who turned challenges into opportunities,” Ms. Ayoub stated in an interview. She also credited the J&K Students Welfare Mission (JKSWM) for its role in managing the centre efficiently, as well as the District Administration, Police, and Judiciary for their support in addressing women’s issues.

Adding to the achievements, Shahida Bashir, In-charge IT and a well-known women’s rights activist, was honored with the Naari Ratna Samman Award 2025 for her outstanding contributions to women’s welfare. “Empowerment begins when a woman realizes her voice matters. SAKHI is that catalyst,” she remarked.

Operating under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri and the supervision of the District Social Welfare Officer Bandipora, SAKHI OSC Bandipora has played a pivotal role in addressing domestic violence and gender-based issues.

With 605 registered cases of domestic violence, 506 successfully resolved, and over 500 awareness programs and workshops conducted, the centre has emerged as a beacon of hope. Its impact has previously been recognized with the UT-Level Best Performing OSC Award in 2022 and a ranking among India’s top 115 OSCs by the World Health Organization.

This latest national recognition on International Women’s Day 2025 stands as a testament to the power of commitment, resilience, and collective action in advancing women’s rights. As SAKHI Shines stated, “Bandipora’s beacon burns bright—proof that even in the darkest storms, hope, when nurtured collectively, becomes an unstoppable force.”
